You know you are far when the in-flight magazine has articles almost solely about Antarctica. Cramped into a small turbo-prop, we were on our way from Punta Arenas to Puerto Williams, officially the most southern-most town on earth. It won us over much like every outpost town before and made me reconsider whether I should not just move there. Watch that space.

The town itself consisted of one gravel road, two restaurants whose opening hours were a mystery, and a supply shop. It was also the beginning of Dientes de Navarino, a remote trek that would take us within sight of Cape Horn.

The trek got off to an interesting start when our guide dislocated his knee. A few hours later, with a new guide, we froze our way up the col and cried a little through the rain (might have been Marta). But then, as it tends to happen, the rain stopped, clouds cleared, and awes began. We trekked further into the remote, looked for beavers, slept by the lake, and ate well. And, of course, took a picture as we pointed at Cape Horn.
